Spied: 4 Cylinder Camaro? (April 17)
9 Attachment(s)
Today, one of our spy photographers caught the 2016 Chevy Camaro with what he believes is a four-cylinder engine. He was able to follow it for 5 miles and really take in its exhaust note, which he perceived to be from a 4 cylinder.
Up front we can see that the base Camaro gets a different front fascia compared to its SS sibling. There's no rear trunk spoiler, a different lower rear fascia is in place, and there are split dual exhaust pipes instead of quad exhaust. Compare to the SS prototype here: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=403300 If this is indeed a 4 cylinder Camaro, it may be a 2.0-liter turbo four shared with the Cadillac sedans. Yep it's coming, different tail lights
|
Interesting, I wonder what the stop sign sticker says on the window? Stay away from the car, no pictures allowed, etc.
|
Whatever size the 4 cylinder engine is, GM must have calculated with it being up to it's competitors in the 4 cylinder league.. Interesting if indeed they do bring a turbo4 to the table.

Awesome find. Wheels and exhaust are definitely different than anything we have seen before. Maybe the 5 spoke guys will approve of these wheels finally. Exhaust definitely makes me think ATS 2.0T.

Under the Camonis the real deal. Not the JC Whitney specials that are used earlier in the process. What doe this mean? We are getting even closer to production. |
Those are probably production-spec taillights, or very close.
Edit: ^^What he said. |
Tail lights appear to have a led style glow.
|
So being that those rear lights def. look production (or damn close) are we looking at a CTF car? Pilot production fired up late March last I recall reading here...
|
Yep, dollars to doughnuts those are production-spec taillights.
|
I know we can't see much but it's looking good. Love the wheels. I do hope the V6 is the mid level option and the four cylinder is geared more towards fuel economy.
|
tires are much higher profile than we've seen before, Also the wheels have not been seen before no?
from those, seems like a base variant - would the Turbo 4 be above or below V6? headlights also production? |
1. Looks like Goodyear Eagle tires.
2. Unless this guy is really short, looks like more head room. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/attach...0&d=1429292331 3. Looks like the low-profile rear-view mirror is back. 4. Can anyone see a HUD under the camaro6 logo? It's kind of in a crappy place. 5. Those (might be) the real taillights! |
