Gen6 lineup?

I think the introduction of the Z/28 for the 2014 model year makes things interesting for the 2016 Gen6. The Z/28 will definitely be back, but I don't see the ZL1 being available, at least not in the early years of Gen6.

Logic would say the SS would get the 427 and the Z/28 would get the LT1. The Z/28 would no longer be a stripped down car, have track goodies and be a good drivable week-end car. Also, I don't see the 1LE option clouding up the line-up.

There is huge difference between a Z/28 and a Z28. Your scenario wouldn't fly.

And this is based of what?

My guess is if anything the Z/28 will not be in the 6th Gen at all....It was a short run in the 60's...It'll be a short run here...

LT-1's for the SS, 1LE...S/C version for the ZL-1...

I read my horoscope and it said that I will foresee these sort of things, so don't argue with me...lol....

I have wondered this to will the z/28 continue on the 6th or will it go back to z28 or is it just the last to years of the 5th

With the Corvette and the trucks going to the gen5 LT series engines, I would assume that the 6th generation Camaro will be on the gen5 LT series engines exclusively as well. The only engines I've seen mentioned thus far are the LT1 and then there were rumors on AutoBlog and GMI about a supercharged direct injected v8 engine. I can see how the LT1 is the replacement to the LS3, the supercharged direct injected engine being a replacement to the LS9, but I'm unsure of what would be the gen5 series equivalent of the 427 LS7.

That said - personally, I'd like to see the ZL1 continue because it's such a great "bang for buck" high performance vehicle. It'd be nice if it was able to blow the doors off the GT500 in every single aspect, though.

If they continued a Z/28 or Z28, I'd rather it be the Z/28 and continue the same path they're on -- stripper car meant for track performance and weekend cruiser, not meant as a daily driver... that's what the heritage of the Z/28 is all about. I'd like to see the SS 1LE continue for the daily driver track car, too...

At the end of the day, as long as we have a proven answer to every model that Ford offers on the Mustang, I'd be happy.

I'm a believer that the LS7 will be done in a couple of years with the 5thGen Z/28...Don't see what they could put in a Z/28 to be different in a 6thGen..

...My take on the "Z28" thing is that they will not do it...It's the main reason they built the monster "Z/28" like they did...

I don't really see a niche for the 6thGen Z/28 or a Z28 given the models already out there...

There's no reason to believe a Z/28 would be available at the onset, especially with the end of the LS-series V8. The most likely scenario is that the SS carries the LT1. The LT would carry the corporate V6 with the LS possibly powered by a turbo-4. Above that will depend on LT-series development.

I foresee the Z/28 and Z28 coexisting.

In my opinion, the Z28 badge has been take over by the 1LE.

The LT1 is the base V8 and the blown/turbo'd LT1 will be the ZR1-ZL1 engine. That leaves the Z06-Z/28 engine.

SS will get the LT1, Z/28 and ZL1 will xome out after year 1. The Z28 will likely have the same engine as the next Z06.

1LE = Z28? I don't think so. Your missing the LS7 unfortunately. Now if my 1LE had the LS7 in it, I wouldn't have bought the ZL1 honestly, but I had to trade up...

Z/28 and Z28 will not coexist. Doesn't make sense.
