Paint thickness

Anyone out there with a 2017 zl1 have acces to a paint thickness measurer? When I was getting estimates on my new car paint correction the estimater measured it in multiple areas and it was coming back as 1 mil thick over the majority of the car some areas 2 mil. which he thought was thin for a new car but he stated that it might be because they are using a harder paint. Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

You are correct, it's thin...... And it's not thin for any reason other then they painted this Cheap. Watch your wet sanding, an aggressive wet sand will probably punch through the clear.....

Scratches in clear

What do you guys think is something that paint correction will completely get rid of? You can't feel the scratches. Brand new paint didn't notice till I got it home under the garage lights. Car is less then a week old and I notified the dealer of the imperfections as soon as I got it home and saw it under the garage lights .Oh and when I left the dealer yesterday check engine light came on again, they said it hadn't come on at all while at the shop even though I got an onstar notice saying it did. WTF!

That will come out with a stage 2 polish job, something like a Meguires 105, then 205 with a medium foam pad and an orbital set on medium speed, probably 3 to 4 passes each.....

You think that will actually all completely come out and look flawless?

Wow! That's unbelievable. These dealer's are really messing up some cars. I can't hardly believe it.

Yes to the first picture, but the subsequent pictures are pretty bad. This car has got to go back to the dealer , this may be a three stage polish.

I drove 300 miles to get this car dealer told me not a scratch on it before I left my house...I notice some fines in the front upon pickup but didn't see the extent of the damage till I got under the garage lights...needless to say I wasn't too happy!

Glad to hear, the dealer seems to think a simple buff and wax will get the job done.

A professional with a rotary and some wool can short cut it pretty well…

Oh shit I misread and thought you said yes to all of them. I sent pictures to them awaiting what they're gonna do for me.
