So what IS going to Happen to Camaro5 after the 6th gen comes out?

I LOVE my Camaro5 forum. I will need grief therapy if it falls apart when the 6th gen Camaros come out. :( I'm getting anxious just thinking about it. A little reasurrance?????????????? :iono:

Nyx 02-03-2013 10:13 PM

I think we should keep this up and make a side thread for the 6th gen until most ppl have it then just make the 6th gen the primary on the forum

colingordon 02-03-2013 10:14 PM

Everyone who buys a 6th Gen will move over to camaro6.com and I'm sure will stay active here and there on C5, then all of the 5th Geners will remain here and stay active here and there on C6.com

I hope nothing happens to Camaro5... Just give the Gen 6 there own Thread Topic..:iono:

CamaroKid300 02-03-2013 10:23 PM

The biggest reason this forum won't die is because a) 5th generation camaros will far outnumber 6th gens for a while and b) I feel confident saying most of the information here will be relevant to the 6th gen in some way.

I'm concerned about C7

It is rational to think that when GM moves Camaro production from Canada to US, the next generation is to arrive. However, GM has been anything but rational, in fact, it goes against their DNA, to this point anyways.

So, that being said, do you think the Gen 6 is that close, or is it but a minor moniker like the past 8yrs or how ever many of the "new Mustang", which is neither new nor novel.

Cam2011 02-03-2013 10:32 PM

We'll be buried in the dungeon with the 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st gen people. Unless we all buy new and then we can once again post in the penthouse.

Camaro6.com,Camaro6Fest and so on....

cadyshac 02-03-2013 10:44 PM

If they botch the 6th gen we may be more popular than ever.

There are many years of good times left right here on camaro5.:)

buckeyemike 02-03-2013 10:53 PM

I'm not sweating it, there's still activity on TA and other Fbody sites so no sweat.

HDRDTD 02-03-2013 10:59 PM

Why should anything happen to it? We'll still be here.

LimaCharlie 02-03-2013 11:23 PM

I think camaro5 will stay but there will likely be a 6th gen Camaro specific forum too....probably camaro6.com.
I eventually see 1 big forum that hosts both camaro5.com and camaro6.com. Basically, camaro5.com and camaro6.com (or whatever it will be called) will be redirected to the 1 big forum.

Dynabyte 02-03-2013 11:33 PM

I've had the pleasure of owning several Camaros - including my black 89 Iroc with the 5.7 TPI that was an attention getter for sure. All of the others were awesome in their own right. I'm on my second 5th gen and my third is on it's way. I think that 30 years from now, car folks will look back upon the 5th gen as one of the most elegant, yet organic, cars ever made. When the 6th generation comes out - it's going to rock but there's something special about these cars - and I think we'll be here a long time talking about that

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit Camaro6.com will be dollar signs for our lovely King. I'm sure he already has the domain reserved.

JohnnyBfromPeoria 02-04-2013 01:06 AM

I believe it will likely become more of a repair/mod oriented site, with new members being buyers of the used cars and the older members advising others about common tips and tricks. That's what seems to happen to vehicle forums with older cars/trucks/whatever.

I'm a member of a four wheel drive board, and have been for over ten years. Mitsubishi hasn't sold a new Montero in the U.S for nearly ten years, yet the forum is the most active one of all the makes on there.

It may change, but you'll still see familiar names for years and years.

pincoin 02-04-2013 05:29 AM

Nothing will change. You cant just ditch the 5th gens when the 6th come out. Who knows what its going to look like anyway. Thats a big issue for me.

quualudes 02-04-2013 06:05 AM

If they own the camaro6.com domain name already, then nothing has to change. The home page can be 6th gen news but the forum link can come back here seamlessly.

Nightfall (RIP?) had nothin' on AdamZ... 13,000 posts since joining nine months ago; that's nearly 50/day! :confused0068: Just sayin'...

Why not? People ditched the original camaro forum for this place when the 5th gen came out.

I have to agree with this, and time, years of time, will tell for sure.

The 5th was a 'return to greatness' , backed by a BIG movie series.

Again, the timing was just right. A whole bunch of us 80's and 90's kids are now earning enough money to have one ,some as a second car.
Critical ingredients to a modern classic.

The_Blur 02-04-2013 10:40 AM

I want to be very clear about this. We will be here. Camaro5 is fully prepared for the 6thgen. Stay tuned. ;)

Corvette7.com is the sister site to Camaro5, No reason there can't be a Camaro6.

They may just change the site name to camaro6.com but keep the database the same and obviously primary forum would be first then the 5th Gen forum title would be below that.

This. They can easily re-title some of the sub forums and redirect Camaro5 to the "new" Camaro6 website.

Or they can just change the name to something that works for either year rather than putting the generation in it.

or, the second the 6th gen is announced, they will delete all trace of Camaro5's existence.

bthibodeaux 02-04-2013 04:11 PM

There will be anarchy! This site will implode and the servers will fry. Then all Gen 5 Camaros will burn to the ground.

That is what I heard anyway.

The same thing that happened to Camaro4 when Camaro5 came out

quualudes 02-04-2013 05:04 PM

So... camaro6.com is currently 'parked' at GoDaddy which means someone owns it. I am assuming that the owners of camaro5.com had the foresight to purchase that domain name since, ya know, they are trying to build an empire here. :) Advertising pays!!! And having an active forum like this is a HUGE commodity.

When you go to camaro5.com, you get 5th gen news on the main page and there are a number of tabs to choose from, including the forums. When you click on the link to the forums, you get the root of forums - not just 5th gen stuff. You got not only the 5th gen stuff, but they allocate for anything that is required and reasonable to organize the masses, information and topics. Adding 6th gen is trivial. :)

The database for the forums cares not for the domain name. If you navigate from carmaro5.com or camaro6.com, it will be the same forums, your browser will just stick with the domain name you entered with.

For all intents and purposes, the camaro6.com domain will just be a new folder on the same web server holding camaro5.com. Nothing changes except for how they integrate 6th gen into the forums.

tramtwo 02-05-2013 10:22 AM

can't imagine this site going anywhere until the last 5th gen oem airbox has been modded

meissen 02-05-2013 02:20 PM

I just hope there's more separation on the home page than there currently is. It drives me nuts that I have to scroll through all the Corvette news to find the Camaro news... Yet if you go to Corvette7.com, there's no Camaro news on their homepage...

That said, no doubt Camaro5 will not be going anywhere. There's still websites dedicated to 2nd gens, 3rd gens, 4th gens, all generations, etc.

I see new sticker sales and hoodies already beginning! lol!! I hope they sell little 6's!

OldScoolCamaro 02-05-2013 07:44 PM

...what will happen? The same thing that happened the day after Y2K, and the day after 12-21-12....:)

News is news....much like a tickertape, as something relevant to the Camaro happens, it'll probably be posted, and then fade away into the archives. I can understand how that might be frustrating, at times, though.

Here is our vision for the future, in a nutshell:

We've had an absolute BLAST over the past (nearly 7) years speculating and then enjoying everything Camaro-related, including some of the best car enthusiasts on the planet!! We wouldn't dream of letting that go...So, as the 6th-generation of Camaro comes out, this web-forum's administration is ready and willing to welcome it with open arms, and integrate new sections and subforums seamlessly.

Will some directories change? Very possibly. But know this:

We will continue to strive to maintain our very high standards of decorum and the atmosphere of "friends and family" that we are so very proud of. We don't intend to fade away into the annals of history, or let our standards degrade. We hope you, our most valued members and Camaro Comrades, will continue to post, predict, discuss, and otherwise goof-off about Camaros for many years to come.

:grouphug:

(I've been waiting for weeks to use that smilie. :bellyroll:)
