Cam swap, now low oil pressure…

Damn the luck! Guess I pinched the oring when installing the new oil pump the second time… Looks like I’ll be going back in there to put a new oring on. I only have 15psi at hot idle. Not tuned yet, just initial start up. So maybe 600 rpm, but since I installed a Mellng 10295 and fresh oil, darn should have better than 15psi.

Not looking forward to ripping it all apart again.

If you remove the oil pan completely, you can install the pickup tube carfully and not gamble on the O-ring pinching.

To be able to remove oilpan engine still in the car, I cut the small crossmember off and made flanges to it to be bolted back on.

Does your engine have vvt?

Nope, standard LS3. No VVT or DoD.

Well that bites!! I have the 10295 in my engine, and at hot idle mine shows 34-39psi with 5w30 mobil 1, and around 54-55psi at cruising speed and rpm. 65-68 at wot.. Not sure which spring they installed in the pump when it was installed. I know it comes with an extra one. Good luck, hope you get it fixed..

The reason I ask is when I changed my pump the second time I went with the 10295 and my pressure went down to 15 psi. It was because I have an l99 with vvt and it has a high-volume pump and when I went with the 10295 it is a high-pressure standard volume. So, then I changed it out back to a high-volume pump and my pressure was back to normal. I know this probably doesn't help just thought I would through it out there.

Appreciate the comments from you all. I hope to have another go at this over the weekend. Fingers crossed a new oring fixes it. If not I’ll probably order another pump and try again.
