Sounds like a solid plan but do you need to have a ported snout on the Whipple? Id imagine that it is already smoothed out?

Yeah, its already setup for a 103mm. There is actually an adapter you have to use to mount the TB, the adapter for the stock TB just steps it down.

To the OP - Might want to consider ported heads while you are in there - Not a massive gain but saves labor vs going back in to do it later.

Sounds like a solid plan Curious who is doing your work? Keep us updated. I'm also considering the Whipple. Any concerns with heat or plans for cooling?

TEXASHIGHSHERIFF 09-14-2018 08:11 AM

Yes, thanks.they are porting the heads as well. And a different pully.

They are the highest around! Your probably paying 3k to much.. If your using a shop in Houston I'd go with Matt Sorian he quoted me 2300.00 cam labor and a tune but I all ready have a tune from him so im sure its discounted a little. This also doesn't count a BTR cam kit with all the goodies for $1400.00

Fueling is gonna be the problem now and down the line Your dollars will go further if you spend the money now on a good fuel system, don't cheap out spend it on Lingenfelter Hi pressure pump, Bigger injectors from FIC or Lingenfelter, and some type of lift pump DSX or comparable.. all these parts with your new cam Lobe.

If ya have the patients the best thing to do is to wait for then Katech external mounted hi pressure DI pump for the Zl1 its all ready available for the vettes. there working on brackets and lines..

I bet the Katech fuel system and whipple alone on e85 would make more power than ordinary way using the stock lt4 fuels components, cam lobe, and low side pump and meth.

What I mean is your going to spend 1500 plus on a meth system and it wont take you as far as a good fuel system will.. that 1500 is a lot money that could go to a good system.

What are you on? The Katech pump is $4.5k by itself, you still need to add injectors for $3.5k and a lowside pump.. You are into it at least $9k vs $1500.

I'm not saying the Katech pump doesn't leave you with more room to grow, but from an economic standpoint, it makes no sense at all for this power level.

I'm saying that 9k fuel system and whipple will make more HP than you will by doing the Cam, lowside and meth..

you will never even come close to using the potential of the whipple hell they are all ready talking about meth kit! Why? cause it needs it as a fuel source!

You'll be on 93/e85 mix and meth vs all out 85

that 1500 is half of injector cost... why waste it for a meth kit and install and deal with refilling?
