Decrease in value?
Anyone notice that 4th gens were a dime a dozen 5 years ago, and now they are insanely priced?
I passed on a few $4-5000 SS's before the 5th gen was out. Now they are $10K cars.
I think ours will hold their own.
The 6th gen may be a turd....never know.
1st Gen = Bad ASS
2nd Gen = Meh
3rd Gen = Excellent
4th Gen = Decent
5th Gen = Awesome
6th Gen = ? (if it has 2nd Gen style, I'll pass)
Bring back the square look! IROC style!

WHAMMO 01-27-2013 06:00 PM

6th gen wont be a turd cause it will be on the same paltform as the ATS, which is lighter(the biggest problem of the Camaro right now, making it slower and less fuel efficient), and it will have the new LT1; more hp/tq!!

Plus the it will probably look better!

Its a big win IMO.

That beeing said, its not out yet and 5th gen owner have a lot of time to enjoy their ride before its out!!

In my area i hardly see any Camaro's and if i do it's mainly a V6. Very few SS's and i've seen only 1 ZL1 and i don't think it was from around here.

pincoin 01-28-2013 04:48 AM

I doubt the 6th gen will look better than the 5th gen.

2011ss/rs 01-28-2013 05:01 AM

With the exception of the 1st Gen all of the others were around for quite a few years. I don't believe we will see the 6th Gen for a while.

People need to listen to this guy more often. Fenwick is one of the most informed posters when it comes to what's going on.

This^

Plain and simple thats it. The 5th gen was a great hit for GM, but with the new mustang coming out the 6th gen camaro will be needed right away.

New Mustang
Better starting platform in the Alpha
Design won't be limited to make the car retro
It's the new thing

But please AFM,auto only...;)

Probably as butt ugly as the new Corvette - and it's industry leading "part time" four cyl. engine......

...love the look of the new Stingray, seems to me some fusion of Camaro styling in it, I hope the new Camaro is also transformed in a similar direction, perhaps with some C7 styling cues??? Now, that would be something....Mr. Welburn should have the Vette design team draw up a Gen 6 Camaro model...just for their prospective on what it should look like since they did such a fine job on the C7.

That sounds like a great idea to me.

The fact of the matter is, this car came to market a tad late. The 5th gen Mustang already had five years under its belt as opposed to the 3 years it had in the 60's. Already the new Mustang is coming out and it's apparently taking a different direction in styling.

If the Camaro is to compete with the Mustang, it has to have its own unique styling but cater to the same styling trends that the Mustang and all other cars in its class are adapting to.

It's a shame, because I loved the retro movement but it's on its way out.

I'm in no rush - every time I start thinking like that, it makes me want to stop modding my car. Enjoy what you have!!!!!!!

Jeff Goldblum says "Welllll....." I don't care about depreciation because I'm not selling mine. And it's fun to speculate. But I hope the 5th gen production sticks around for a few more years, sort of. I got mine, but I think the refresh was not exactly in the right direction. So if the 6th gen continues to go south let's go ahead and get it out so we can move on to a 7th, on the other hand, two or three renderings of the 6th gen look pretty cool, and if it looks cool and is lighter, therefore performs better, then I'm ready for it in about 4 years, yeah, 4 years. My car will have 50k miles on it and be ready to retire to the garage and Friday nights and the new daily driver will need to be here.

On the one hand I totally agree with the OP, on the other, let the price fall. I have one, I want at least two more 5th gens, so let the price fall

redleader 05-12-2013 03:44 AM

I see no hurry either.
All the improvements can pretty much be done to the current visual styling or at least by keeping very close to it.

On the other hand, I look forward to my 5th Gen becoming unique ASAP :-)

Aubrey64 05-12-2013 04:34 AM

I am in no rush at all. I am happy with my Camaro and I want to keep on modding mine for a few more years. I am curious to see what the 6th gen looks like, but I am in no hurry

^ This, Ford should be moving on to the 6th gen Mustang in 2015 if I am not mistaken, because the 5th gen Mustang debut'd in 2004 began production in 2005.

I think waiting till 2016 is going to be bad enough I was hoping they would come out with the 6th Gen Camaro in 2015. But I can understand waiting until 2016 just because the car will only be 6 years old at that point.

FenwickHockey65 05-15-2013 10:24 PM

6th gen will probably arrive sometime in 2015 for the 2016 model year.

Agreed. Its already been stated that Camaro production moves to Lansing in 2015 right....and I don't see any point to simply moving production of the current car there only to retool it a year or two later for the next gen.

6th gen Camaro for 2016 model year.

LikaRokBowTie 05-15-2013 11:48 PM

I believe Ford will be bringing a new Mustang next year as that will be the 50th annv.for the car.I can't see Ford waiting much longer than that, how many diehard Mustang fans would be pissed if they skipped the 50th year mark,so Chevy will answer the Mustang in 2015 in Detroit and may even introduce the car later in the year as a 2017 model for a 50th annv model for Camaro.Hey stranger things have happened,I bought a 2002 TB in early 01.So it doesn't matter if you're in a hurry or not Chevrolet will bring it when they're ready.

Good thing looks are subjective because I think the new Corvette is one of the best looking Vette's.
