17 and 19 side-by-side

I normally don't park my Z in this part of the parking lot, but I saw this '19 show up today and parked next to him for a quick photo.
It's the first I have seen a '19 with my own eyes. I have to say, I don't dislike the taillights. I like mine just fine and would not have redesigned them, but that's just me. The front is a big no for me though. I just don't understand the reasoning behind the change. I couldn't get a side-by-side of the fronts unfortunately. |
The 17' rear looks sleaker. But its a matter of getting used to.
|
I remember when the 6th gen came out, people were complaining because the taillights didn't look like a Camaro like the 5th gen did. Now Chevy went back to a similar 5th gen look and people don't like it. Like I said its a matter of getting used to.

Hate the 19

Very nice pic.
The back of the ˋ19 looks much higher although it isn’t. |
Not a fan of the 19 taillights.
|
Not a fan of the spoiler on both these cars. Why isn't spoiler delete an option?

The 17 is hideous! No wonder they didn’t sell!:pound:

I've seen them together too. the 2016-18's are much smoother and cleaner. the 2019 looks odd .

That is a good comparison picture! The 19 would look much better with the dual exhaust tip!

I am happy with mine, the smoked clear lens just makes it better.

The ass of the 19 looks like ass. :barf:

Very cool pic! I like all year Camaro's. Congratulations to all the 2019 owners!
|
Sorry but the one on the right looks like a Lexus and the other a spaceship. Neither design is going to age well. The more I look at any 6g the worse they get. These cars are great performers but not lookers.
|
The '19 refresh is all an elaborate strategy to sell more ZL1s.

hate to keep hating but like others I never noticed the bumper also changed and its terrible, no style whatsoever, I just don't know what they were thinking
|
If I never saw the 17, I would not dislike the 19. In fact, I don't dislike the 19 now. It's just different, not objectionable to me.
|
"HATE", it seems we use this word for everything nowadays.
Whatever happened to constructive dialogue? Flame away. |

People really need to make themselves feel better about what they purchased. This forum could be so much better. |

But that’s another topic, sorry for hijacking |
Sorry but's compared to the 17 the 19 is BUTT UGLY Literally. It's so much more block looking instead of sculptured. I'm sorry it's a huge fail!

Your ZL1 is mean looking car, and personally the 19 rear is better. In person the chiseled lower rear fascia looks great, as do the taillights. I like the pre-refresh too. |

Perhaps we should translate a little better:
UGLY = tail lights looks like thy were glued on from another car. Think back to the model car you put together as a 5yo. Remember how you didn't trim the plastic nubs, and the tail lights stuck out a bit? Here you go, 30 years later, on a production car. HIDEOUS = The lower crease line even with the bottom of the license plate draws your eyes upwards. It means that the perceived "centerline" of the bumper looks higher on the 19 than the 17. UNORIGINAL = The license plate area (and tail lights and lower crease, to some degree) looks more like the Malibu than a Camaro. Check it out. https://www.motortrend.com/cars/chev...edan-rear-view I guess I could go on to the front of the car . . . but I've made my point. |
