ZL1 and ZL1 1LE race ramp questions

Anyone have experience with zl1 1le and race ramps? Looking to pick up a set and am curious if the 67 XT versions will work with no front splitter scrape - or would I need to go to the 72" ramps? A few other questions: 1 piece or 2 piece version? How many wheel chocks should be used 2 or 4?

Thanks

There are some posts about Race Ramps in this section, and the 67 inch version will work. The 2 piece version allows you to remove the rear portion of the ramp for easier under car access. I'd think 2 chocks would work, since the car is lifted in the front or rear while on the ramps.

I thought that I saw the people saying the 56" race ramps clears the ZL1 but its close. I want to get a set to do oil changes.

56" clears on my 18 ZL1 by about 1/2", maybe a little less.

Thats what I though, even if it didnt I guess you can add a 2x6 in front to so its stepped a little bit.

Really I hope the 56" race ramp clears my other car...ha TBD I guess.

I have the 56” ramps, the rubber air deflectors just barely rub on the ramps (non-1lE ZL1).

Thank you for posting this thread, and those that have replied...I need to get a set myself this summer...and all of your input is priceless! :D

The longer they are the better the angle and less chance of scraping i have the 67 and they don't hit. but from above looks like 56 will work also

I use the 4" full car length ramps

Do these give enough clearance to get under the car to change oil?

Blue17CamaroZL1 02-15-2018 09:28 PM

I'm on the bigger side so i wouldn't be able to fit but someone smaller than me might be able to.

Anyone with the 56" Race Ramps back up on to them to say service the rear diff? If so, did the front end clear the ground? I can try it, but haven't yet.

For changing oil I use the Race ramp wheel cribs and chock the rear tires.
I was lucky enough to find these at a local car swap.
To lift the car I use the ZL1 addons universal Jackpads

This works great for all my cars and much easier to store and move around.

Hmmmm. So, you jack the car and put the wheel cribs uner, then jack thebotherbside and do the same? Why not just use the ramps?

I have the zl1 add-ons jack pads installed.

yes, this will work fine even with my antiquated rhino ramps

FYI they make extenders for those who have the 56" version

Mr. Wyndham 05-10-2018 10:35 PM

I can post pictures at a bit of a later date...but I can confirm that the Race Ramps RR-TR 7" (74" length) will clear the ZL1 1LE with the front struts in full height setting with about an inch to spare. So it should also clear in full low setting.

I got the 56" two piece ramps for 17 ZL1. They worked perfect. When I got my 18 ZL1LE, I had to get the extenders as the approach angle was just a little too steep.

Just received my 67" Race Ramps today. They clear the splitter, but do rub up on the rubber and plastic pieces that sit under the splitter. Going to have to order the XTenders unfortunately.

I would suggest getting the 72" for the ZL1 1LE.

I also have 67 inch race ramps and confirm rubbings zl1 . I found discount ramps had the best price at time of my purchase.

So these 67" ramps rub a bit?

https://www.amazon.com/Race-Ramps-RR...ace+ramp+67%22

satanschariot666 07-15-2018 03:42 AM

all lenghts ramps will rub dont worry about that you can even get the 56
all you need to clear it with room to spare is to find a spot where a floor is slightly offset from the pavement
even the slightest rise of the front wheels will do it
u can even put the cardboard the ramps came in and drive over it w the front wheels
once the car is pointing up there will magically be tons of clearance

satanschariot666 07-15-2018 03:46 AM

straight is an illusion
things that appear straight are infact curved

Needs about 4" to get on an 18' Aluma Tilt

I put a couple of 12" X 1" square pieces of wood I put under the race ramps that work well.

I bit the bullet and went with the Race Ramp 80's. Plenty of clearance.
