Anyone worried GM will ruin the 6th gen Camaro?
After seeing what they did to the C7 Corvette rear fascia I'm growing concerned they're going to ruin the 6th generation Camaro. Add to that the polarizing change to the 2014 Camaro tail lights, I'm not optimistic we're going to get a better looking 6th gen Camaro. I mean look at the rear fascia of the new Corvette, what were they thinking?

Judging by that picture we're in good hands in my opinion. I love everything about the C7.

That's why I kept the camaro while ordering the C7.;)

I love the C7 rear end. The Corvette needed a drastic change because they were boring to look at. One reason the Camaro's got more looks than the Vette's was because it was new an meaty. Change is OK. I will still keep my Camaro though even if I buy the new version.

I really like the c7 Corvette. I don't think GM ruined them at all, and if the 6th gen follows anywhere near the the styling or design cues of the 2014 corvette, I will be more than pleased.

by the looks of the transformers 4 leaked photos.. looks alright. should be more edgy than roundy in the front imho though

Looks like we have more "likes---:thumb:" than "dislikes", including me. I love the C7....sorry!! Would love to own one.

What's wrong with the C7??? In my opinion they finally got it right!!! The new Vette looks right sitting next to any exotic now.

c7 looks amazing in person |
Every other aspect of the design is very well done, although I'm surprised it has such skinny wheels on it. I have a 2011 Z06 with the Z07 performance package that cost me a fortune, so maybe I'm a little biased :)
Still, that rear fascia looks like something for a Pontiac, it just doesn't flow with the design of the rest of the car IMO. I think it's the tear drop vents on the outside tail lights and the more prominent V shape of the emblem. |
Steve - I don't disagree and have ordered a new C7...the only design element I don't like is the black "tear" to the outside of the taillight you show. RPI is now offering body colored bezels that should take care of that.

The biggest questions on the NG car will be retro or not. It's that simple. If you think the Camaro has to represent the history of the car then that one question is most critical for you.
If you look at everything that GM has done with the launches since the Camaro you can get a feel for what is coming. Improvements to the Impala, heralded by pretty much everyone. Huge step up in the interior. Added many technology upgrades. Solid all around. ATS. Still has the vision problems associated with high belt, slammed roof and huge C-pillars. Giant up grade in the interior. Giant demonstration of GM's prowess in ride and handling. CUE is a great start. Not liked by many yet but it's growing on me even. CTS. Demonstration of what GM can do with an architectural variant off of Alpha. Application of further powertrain enhancements and V-sport tuning. FST and Utilities. Very solid evolutions on interior, exterior, powertrain and NVH. Yes we have to wait for real reviews of a few of these products, but preliminary reviews are pretty solid. And your use of the C7, well that has been a bit polarizing but for the most part it's growing on people. My opinion, GM could have made it very plain, i.e. Porsche rear ends and done ok. You won't mistake this going down the road. As for the Camaro refresh for 2014, that is a historical reference to later Camaros which takes us back to the first question. Retro or not to retro. For me, I hope they go far beyond with the Camaro and take a bold step forward and leave the history behind. I predict they don't have the courage to do that and it would take courage. But we will have to see what happens....................annnnnnd the anticipation continues. |
IMO the C7 is a Home Run! As for the C6 Camaro.....if it looks anything like the possible concept Veh in the spy shots for the new Transformers Movie.....that's ALL fail except the hood!

The 6th Gen Camaro will be fine. The C7 Corvette is good as long as all the vents are body color. I am anxious to see what happens when the ZO6 and the ZR1 come out. The Base and Z51 are really setting the bar high.

I suspect they'll get the 6th generation Camaro mostly right. Heck, they've got a huge user community here from which to gather input. |

The rear fascia on the Corvette is ok on the Corvette. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.
Given what they did with the 2014 Camaro rear end, here's praying the do change it to something else. |
Like everything else some will love it some will hate it and others won't care because its a Camaro..,
|
So far, the only color I've seen that the tear drop is not that flattering is the crystal red.
Every other color, I think the rear fascia is gorgeous. http://www.roadtesttv.com/wp-content...vette-rear.jpg |
There's only one thing I dislike about the C7.
And that is ... one is not sitting in my driveway!!! |

I'm more worried about what car they will copy and how badly they will copy it. That's how they got the C7. So I would imagine that's how they will do the 6th gen camaro. Either way it will look horrible just like the C7.

I love the C7...plain and simple. I'd own one in a heartbeat.
That said, the rear end doesn't settle well with me either. In my perfect world, those tail lights (without the tear drop) would have ended up on the 2014 Camaro refresh or even better, the 6th gen Camaro. They look like a perfect modern aggressive evolution of the tail lights on the Camaro. They even have a bit of that afterburner affect that the Camaro concept had. I guess what I'm trying to say is I love the tail lights on the C7....but not on that car. The C7 would have ended up with oval (not round) lights again, but of course not the simple ones the C6 has. I'm talking a dual layered LED lens like the C7 currently has. In the night they would have had an oval glow with a dark center that lit up when the brakes were hit. Man if only that had happened everyone would love both rear ends instead of the complaints we've been seeing. Not that I don't think the new rears for both cars won't grow on people...they always do. I just don't feel it is as good as it could have been. My .02. I'll leave you guys with this....basically some photoshopped C7 tail lights slightly altered on the back of my car :) |
As someone already stated, not everyone is going to be happy but that's just life. For the rest of us, we are in good hands. C7, Impala, Emergency Redesign of the Malibu (great improvement), ATS, CTS, Silverado/Sierra and the new Tahoe...
Nice Job GM! |

All these complaints about the rear end of the C7 will go away when people see the car with their own eyes. I've seen one , the car is a masterpiece . :thumb:
|
I think that the majority of the complaints about the C7 and 14 Camaro rear end is how HUGE GM has made the black plastic diffusers. The C7 still is not too bad but the 14 Camaro
is awful. |
