Just paid off my 2010 SS2.. now what?

25K miles... already has a CAI, removed exhaust / straight pipe, and throttle controller.

Help a newbie out...

I want to buy new wheels/tires... no idea on size? I like the ZL1 look... So, what size and where do I buy them?

Factory 2010 Camaro SS tires and wheels

Front 245/45-20 = 28.7" tall, 8.0 wheel
Rear 275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0 wheel

Recommended 20" tires for 2010 Camaro
245/45-20 = 28.7" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
255/45-20 = 29.0" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
265/40-20 = 28.4" tall, 8.5-9.0 wheel
275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel
285/40-20 = 28.9" tall, 9.0-10.0 wheel
295/35-20 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel
305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel
315/35-20 = 28.7" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel

Should I keep them staggered or go to 4 same size?

I found these on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/20-inch-Fits-C...ords=zl1+wheel

Looking at headers.. If I put on headers and later decide to supercharge it will they still work?

What type of gas mileage will my SS get if I install a supercharger? LOL.... this is my daily driver after all...

I am getting the front end repainted.. had a drilled in plate bracket and it had some scuffs as well... should I do anything to the grill?

Hetfield03 10-06-2015 01:53 AM

You help me pay mine off, of course

Hetfield03 10-06-2015 02:02 AM

I got mine thru factory reproductions. The default is staggered I believe and I think it's the best looking. Black gorilla lugs, but actual zl1s have chrome lugs. Are you familiar with River City Creations in San Antonio? Oh, Lupe can give you so many ideas for your grill...

May get more feedback on tires/wheels in the subforum for that.. Really comes down to what you plan to do with it and if it only be a DD. That will help others make recommendations. All conditions warrant diff setups..

Headers you will benefit all around from stock to supercharged.. The one thing to be sure if going supercharged is cam selection.. Don't want to put a NA cam in then decide FI.. diff setups.

Grill is a personal choice.. personally I don't mind factory.. not sure I'm a fan of retro or other styles.. guess its where you want to spend your $ and what appeals to you..

Awesome having it paid off!

Put the payment in the bank and start to build wealth. Enjoy your Camaro as is and drive with a smile on your face that it's one less debit you owe and you are saving money.

baum 10-06-2015 06:10 AM

^^^ exactly what he said. since that money is part of your budget just keep it in your budget and put it into savings. in a few short years think about how much you can save. a nice down payment for a new car, cash for a rainy day.

paying it off is a great feeling but i always laugh at posts like these because people think they need to spend it instead of saving now days.

Destructo09 10-06-2015 09:21 AM

That's my goal, actually i'm probably going to sell the Camaro to get out from under the payment (I bought it used a couple years ago). I haven't saved a dime in my life and I need to start. almost 500/month can go a long ways when it isn't going into a car that I don't need.

I plan to buy a old E36 or E46 BMW for cash or maybe a Cooper S or Miata. I autocross and do HPDEs and either of those is upteen times cheaper when it comes to consumables. Not to mention if I put it into the wall 5k hurts a lot less than 25k.

Save? What the hell for!!? lol jk. I say supercharge it. It's like getting a brand new car.

This!!! My Camaro was paid off in February and my Buick will be paid off by December of this year. It will feel good to go into 2016 with no long term debt.

I can put that money into my plans for world domination. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!:bellyroll:

Put your previous monthly payment into a Roth IRA.

Set aside a good chunk to savings.

Drive the 2010, put the would be payments into a savings account till the 2017 ZL1 comes out, trade in the 2010 and use the money towards the ZL1. Then enjoy your 6th gen supercharged LT4 for a greatly reduced price!!

Gee thanks for all the financial advice... LOL... I'm actually a financial planner and the car payment is not at all concern. I only mentioned it because I decided to not to do anything major until I paid it off... I bought it 4 months ago. I can afford to do whatever I want...

I am just looking for advice on my car... not remarks about savings and roths. Back to my questions...

What type of gas mileage will a supercharged v8 get when I just drive it normal? How will it feel?

Pros and cons of going with 4 same size wheels?

Which header? My car is already really load with no exhaust and straight piped.

Go with Kooks or ARH headers, if you are SC then I'd definitely go for 2 inch primarys. Having all 4 wheels same size will help with cornering. Supercharging the car will probably get about 15-16 mpg depending on how much you can stay out of it.

Lots of cool looks for wheels, tints and other stuff here. Check it out.

My supercharged camaro drives like stock when I'm out of boost like in traffic or taking it easy. But when I step on it it's a torque monster and awesome power. I'm only running 6.5 lbs of boost and I'm just under 600 rwhp. I still have to install a ZL1 fuel pump and a BAP but that will be next summer when I up the boost.

You do not need 2" headers, 1 7/8 are fine. There is no power difference or any gains unless your at the 1000 rwhp mark and even then it's not much from what I have seen.

Gas mileage went down a bit for me but only because I love getting on it. I noticed the mileage went down more when I got the cam installed a year later. Once I removed the cats, the kooks headers and magnaflow resonated x-pipe its sound really good. A little smelly but I like that.

As for wheels, I run a staggered set up and that's what I recommend. Even with a 315 tire on the rears I still have traction issues sometimes. I think it's really a personal choice. Running a squared set up means you can rotate and tires might last longer. I have to replace my rear tires already from last year. The front tires will last longer then 3 or 4 sets of rears.

One mod I would strongly recommend is getting a set of 3.91 gears. Best bang for the buck. If you do a search there is a ton of good info on them and what the benefits are. If I didn't go the supercharger route I would have definitely got the gears for sure. I'm still really leaning towards getting them but it will magnify the traction issues I have already so I might have to run stickier tries then the nitti invo's.

Looks like you live fairly close to ADM Performance in Texas. Call Andy; has a great reputation.

Do you have a warehouse for a garage?

What type pf Supercharger? What else do I need to buy with it? and about how much should I be paying someone to install it?

Outlaw77 10-09-2015 10:08 AM

I went with the magnasun 2.3 that comes in a complete package with injectors. Many vendors on this site but I would call SuperchargersOnLine. That's who my shop got my package from. You will also need to upgrade your fuelling by adding the ZL1 fuel pump as well as a boost a pump. There are many options but that seems what most people do for a good reliable set up. I haven't done this yet myself because I am only running about 6.3 lbs of boost. You can run more boost by getting smaller pulleys but the tune and fuelling has to be done right. Of course the more boost you go you have to get bigger injectors as well.

The shop that installed mine took about 8 hours and that was with dyno tuning it after it was installed.

I would recommend that you think about the power goals you want to see and get the right parts the first time and you won't double up on installation as well. While I am happy with the supercharger package I have I'm already wanting more power. I thought I would be happy 550 rwhp but I wanted more so then I had a cam installed. Now I want to run more boost which means that I have to get better fuelling, bigger injectors, smaller pulley and another dyno. I started out thinking it would good enough but trust me, you will want more if you're into this kind of stuff.
