I don't think it's going to take long for the 10.95 to get smashed by an owner on a track day on factory rubber.

Same as I believe a hell at challenger squeaks out a 10.9...I just think the new z06 will have its number..AND walking it hard after the first quarter mile.

Also..the MT run was done on an unprepped surface, they said so very clearly. 11.7 @ 125 is what a Hellcat would run on the street with NO vht, nothing.

Where do you think MotorTrend tested the ZL1 and GT500?

GT500: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 11.6 @ 125.7mph; 3871lbs
Failcat: 0-60, 3.7sec; 1/4mile 11.7 @ 125.4mph; 4449lbs automatic
--ZL1: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 12.1 @ 117.4mph; 4051lbs

So with a fancy German 8-speed automatic, putting down an additional 160hp to the ground, the Failcat eclipses a manual transmission ZL1 by 4/10ths of a second??

Glad to see the Z06 putting up those kind of numbers. It's going to need them when Ford reintroduces the Ford GT in a year or two. Just in time to jump back into LeMans on the 50th anniversary of kicking Ferrari ass in that series.

As impressive as it is am I the only one wondering why the mph was so low? I know people will improve upon the et but its hard to pick 4-6mph.

Seems 127 MPH about right to me.

As for the Camaro..Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Ford fans did that with the S550 and got mildly burned.

Looks like we spoke to soon. Ford has just released info on a new GT-40 type vehicle for 2016. The report said that it won't be just for racing. They said the car will be for sale in the dealerships as well. Motor Trend's home page for the story.

I bet the Vette will still be the bang for the buck champ.

A probable explanation is the test car was a loaded Z06 with the Z07 performance package and its mandatory Level-3 aero body package... therefore huge amounts of downforce, grippier Sport Cup 2 tires, and again lots of downforce... which can affect the 1/4 mile top end speed trap results.

IIRC, GM previously stated: "With this package, the Corvette Z06 delivers the most aerodynamic downforce of any production car that GM has ever tested."

$140,000-150,000. That was their new MSRP, good luck finding one for that price now. Here in metro Portland I saw one for sale private party with an asking price of $195,000 with..something like 3200 miles.

A 2017 mid-engine C8 makes even more sense if the return of the Ford GT is true.

This thing is sick. If only I had the money to get one, I would do so in a heartbeat.
